Job Description

Our client in Orange County, CA is seeking to hire a temporary Accountant for at least 6 months to take charge of the day-to-day operations of thier accounting department. You must be well-versed in all aspects of financial management ranging from simple accounting to more complicated accounting tasks. Must have a strong background in accounting, a service-oriented attitude, and experience analyzing and implementing processes.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, direct, and coordinate all accounting operational functions including daily management of accounting department, accounts payable, cash management, internal audit, financial reports, and company insurance needs.
  • Manage all aspects of general ledger including analysis, reconciliations, and journal entries
  • Manage and comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.
  • Oversee monthly and year-end financial close process and coordinate and prepare internal and external financial statements.
  • Maintains and administers filing and record retention policies and procedures to insure adequate documentation in support of tax, insurance, workers compensation, or other regulatory audits.
  • Coordinates external audits for business use, personal and business property, or other taxing agencies
  • Manage the Company credit card program, including authorization and issuance of credit cards, ensuring business purpose and coding of expenses are timely and accurate.
  • Administer vendor file maintenance to ensure timely receipt of EIN or SSN numbers, timely issuance of tax forms (to include 1099's) at year end, and proper identification of vendors and/or transactions subject to use tax.
  • Manage all insurance coverage, including liability, property, and Worker's Comp; assess any changes necessary; manage insurance broker relationships and coordinate transitions when necessary.
  • Manages database of all company vehicles coordinates with company insurance carrier(s) for additions, removals, annual premiums, and policy renewals; and maintain current registration on owned vehicles.
  • Serve as key liaison with corporate banking institution(s) for cash management, charge card account setup and maintenance, and issue resolution.
  • Manage and perform other duties consistent with the roll of accounting professional .

Education/Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance REQUIRED and five years related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • In-depth knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Familiarity with local, state, and federal regulations related to financial reporting and taxation.
  • Experience with internal and external audit processes.
  • High level of proficiency with technology including Microsoft Office Suite applications, customized database applications, and internet research tools.

Preferred, but not required

  • Understanding of inventory management systems.
  • Familiarity with best practices and lean manufacturing principles
  • Direct mail, printing, personalization, packaging industry experience
  • ADP Software and Payroll timekeeping
