Job Description

We are seeking a Chief Medical Officer (CMO) to join our team. As the CMO, you will be responsible for overseeing the medical operations of our organization. Under the general supervision and collaborative leadership of the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) will serve as an executive leadership member as well as physician with progress experience in behavioral/addiction healthcare management, value-based health care and public health strategies. This senior leader will be responsible for the design and implementation of new models of care that are essential to success in a transformed healthcare environment. The leader will deliver on key principles of clinical innovation in response to a rapidly changing external health care environment through building collaborative relationships and cohesive partnerships, creating aligned incentives, and harnessing the voice of the patient. This includes management of a high-performing community-based medical staff and leadership in the areas of clinical quality, risk management, value-based care (managed care), and health center-based medical education programs. The Chief Medical Officer maintains an active clinical practice at the health center, while leveraging industry knowledge and best practices to promote the mission and vision of the organization as well as supporting a culture of development and quality healthcare.

Responsibilities:

  • Serves as a key member of the Executive Leadership Team, will actively engage, and collaborate in the organization’s strategic planning, financial planning, and clinical operations at our Federally Qualified Health Care network.
  • The Chief Medical Officer will play a key role in building and shaping a strong culture including and not limited to having clinical and quality oversight to all clinical programs while offering direct coaching and development to our clinical provider team.
  • Provides thought leadership and confers regularly with the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) regarding all aspects of of health care activities.
  • Sustains and advances our organization as a leader amongst community health centers – maintaining the health centers’ position as a quality leader and identifying opportunities to implement and achieve new successful, sustainable approaches/services that will increase access, improve outcomes and lower costs while leveraging emerging payment models. In this regard, recommends strategic and annual clinical objectives and service activities and takes major responsibility, along with other members of the Executive Leadership Team, for coordinating their development and execution. Provides cascading sponsorship to clinical team on these initiatives.
  • Collaborates with the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) in the annual health center budgeting process including developing visit projections, determining clinical staffing, and staffing models to support the health center’s goals.

Qualifications:

  • MD/DO from an accredited educational institution. A Master’s (MPH, MBA, MS, MSPH, MHA) degree in health care related field is desirable.
  • Eligible for hospital medical staff privileges.
  • Experience collaborating closely and/or leading cross-functional teams while driving metrics and business out.

Certifications and/or licensures required (if applicable):

  • Current, active, and unrestricted Physician Licensure in State of Washington or eligible
  • Current Washington Controlled Substance License
  • Current Federal DEA License
  • Board certified in Behavioral Health or Addiction Medicine strongly preferred
